Hermann Gladenbeck (1827 - 1918) Pair of Finely Cast Bronze Figural Torchières standing over 6 feet tall. The sculptures alone measure 63.5 in. x 18.5 in. x 7.5 in. and 63.5 x 15.5 in. x 8.5 in., stand on custom made wood bases to stand over 74 inches tall in total. They are signed Aktien-Gessellschaft Glandenbeck foundry in Berlin, Hermann Gladenbeck. They are in working order, one or two of the glass shades may be a replacement. Also, one of the glass shades has damage. Beautiful, old patina and in excellent condition overall. Formerly from a Bay Area estate, these were purchased at Butterfield and Butterfield Second Session-Tuesday, October 7, 1975. An exceptional pair of large, solid and heavy metal figural dragon andirons. There is nut and a threaded hole on the backs indicating that these are andirons in my opinion. Mr. Osborne's passion, enthusiasm and appreciation of film and its stars is shown with this truly one-of-a-kind book containing no fewer than 383 signatures.
