Cover is loose from the front, and front two inside covers are loose, but otherwise intact. Pages are browned, but otherwise very readable. Hand written "owner" information on title page difficult to read but name is legible - Isaac Cartier (no information regarding his identity). All pages for the New Testament appear to be present, as are all the pages in the Concordance at the end. The only 2 plates are on the title page, and the page just prior to the Gospel of Matthew is a picture and description of the Holy Lands. 7.5" x 9.25". . Horologiographia. The Art of Dialling: Teaching, an Easie and Perfect Way to Make All Kinds of Dials Upon Any Plaine Plate Howsoeuer Placed; by Thomas Fale. Imprinted by Felix Kyngston, London, 1626, 2nd Edition. An important work on sun dials, with attractive woodcut diagrams of dials by Jodocus Hondius. This is Fale's only known publication. "The table of sines which it contains is probably the earliest specimen of a trigonometrical table printed in England" - DNB. Sixty-one pages of text, with 30 pages for the table of sines. Original brown hardcover, front separated from the spine, but back cover is still attached; wear along edges, but in acceptable condition for its age. Title page is soiled, and it appears that tape was stuck to it at one point. Internal pages browned, but readable. Bottom corners of last 40-ish pages stained. 5-3/4" x 7-1/4". It appears as though pages were removed between pages 388-389, but none of the number 414 pages of text are missing. Eight-fold-out charts/diagrams at the end of the book. All pages of "God's Terrible Voice" present, browned but otherwise in fair to good condition and readable. The final page(s) of the sermon has a repair (see pictures) and a portion is unreadable. Light brown leather hardcover with darker browning on the edges, red panel on spine with title in good condition, binding is secure - possibly in the past. Vol. 1 covers are worn at the corners; bottom from starting to tear from spine; inside frontispiece starting to separate at lower at spine with discoloring at both top and bottom; back page still attached at the spine but discolored along spine. Vol. 2 front cover has experienced some warping; front is worn at corners and is beginning to separate from spine along the bottom front cover; back cover also starting to separate from spine along the bottom and appears to have minor water damage along the spine from middle to bottom; some water damage on inside pages in the back but still very readable; inside frontispiece and back page still firmly attached to the spine but contains minor discoloration. Peace Medal with Decorated Silver Vest (Beaded). Medal measures 50 mm diameter, vest measures 18.75" x 12" when laid flat. Indian Peace Medal: Obverse: :GEORGIVS II DEL. GRATIA. With image of King George. Reverse: "LET US LOOK TO THE MOST HIGH WHO BLESSED OUR FATHERS WITH PEACE". With image of two men pointing at the sun. Dated 1757. Attached to a beautiful beaded vest or collar with silver thread with bright red background. A very nice piece! Unsure of date of manufacture but the vest appears to be very old and hand made. Housed in a Riker Display Case that measures 20x14 inches. Indian peace medals refer to ovular or circular medals awarded to tribal leaders throughout colonial America and early United States history, primarily made of silver or brass and ranging in diameter from about one to six inches. [1] Medals were often perforated and worn suspended around the neck of the recipient. [1] Controversy remains surrounding the use and impact of peace medals in furthering diplomatic relationships between native Americans and the federal government.
